We have had a busy start to the term and all the children are settling in well.
We would like to welcome back Mrs Hewitt to P3 from her maternity leave. We would also like to thank Miss Murray for all her work with P3 and say a sad farewell.
Beat the Street
This year we are taking part in the Beat the Street Campaign. The campaign is supported by Tesco, Diabetes UK and the British Heart Foundation. The aim is to get people active in their local areas.
Each family in school will be issued with a fob which your child will have to tap on two different Beat the Street boxes within an hour. The top prizes are vouchers for PE equipment. Please help our school get up the leader board!
Active Travel Programme
We have achieved a Bronze Award in our Active Travel Programme which is supported by Sustrans. A big thank you to all who took part in our activities. This year we are working towards a Silver Award. There will be lots more Active Days throughout this year. Keep an eye out for the next event!
P5 Trip to Castle Espie
On Thursday 21st September Primary 5 went on a trip to Castle Espie at Strangford Lough. The children enjoyed a range of activities. They were wildlife detectives, exploring Ireland’s largest collection of native and exotic water-birds. They used binoculars to watch the arrival of many hundreds of migrant birds, among them virtually the world’s entire population of light-bellied Brent Geese. The children got to explore hidden trails on their journey to the play park and a highlight was getting to feed a range of ducks and learn about their migration to Ireland.
Mr Murray’s P5 class took part in an Ulster Orchestra workshop on Wednesday 27th September. They were visited by Greg (on bassoon) and Billy (double bass). They played music by Mozart from the 18th century and also modern day theme tunes from Dr Who and The Muppets. We had a wonderful morning!
This club is now oversubscribed and there will be no more spaces available until further notice.
