Weekly Bulletin 9-5-18

Parent Teacher and Friends Association (PTFA)
The non-uniform day last Friday raised £277.00 for the PTFA. Our thanks go to everyone who supported this fund raising event.

School Nurse
The school nurse will be visiting P1 pupils over the next few days. There are a few health forms that are outstanding – please complete and return to school.

Communion Practice
In preparation for First Holy Communion this Sunday 13th May at 9:30am, pupils will be walking over to Sacred Heart Church for practices every day from 10:45 to 12:00.

Travelling Book Fair
The Book Fair will visit school from Monday 14th to Friday 18th May.

Patrol at Traffic Crossing
Please note that there will be no patrol person on duty on Thursday 24th May or Thursday 7th June. Pupils should be encouraged to take extra care crossing over to school on these days.

Traffic Cones
There have been a number of incidents where parents have either parked at the traffic cones (placed at the pedestrian crossing) or actually moved them out of the way. The traffic cones are placed to protect children crossing the road. We understand that parking is a real issue for parents and we are actively trying to find solutions. However, for the safety of all children, under no circumstances should cones be moved or cars be parked at the cones or zig-zagged lines.

After school clubs
Please remember that Sports Club, Film Club, ICT club and Table Top Games Club are run by teachers and must close at 3:45pm to allow teachers to prepare for the next day. There are still a small number of children who are not being picked up promptly and parents are encouraged to arrive early.

SCHOOL GOVERNOR ELECTIONS
During the remainder of the current academic year, we will be required to follow procedures designed to assist with reconstituting our Board of Governors. There are four main categories of governor – EA representatives, Transferor, Trustees, Parent representatives and two Teacher governors. In due course elections will take place for Teacher and Parent representatives. For further information and application forms to apply to be a EA representative, please visit:
www.education-ni.gov.uk/articles/school-governor-appointments

The Department of Education (DE) is looking to attract people from all sections of local communities in becoming school governors.

Appointments and Messages
As you know, from 12:30pm onwards there is only one member of staff manning the school office. There are still a number of parents phoning and asking to pass on messages to children or arriving to pick up children early. We will always attempt to facilitate ‘emergency’ medical appointments and urgent messages but would ask parents to work with us on this. Please discuss and agree pick up arrangements at breakfast with your children. Pupils should only be removed from school for appointments in the case of acute medical need.

School Holidays in May
Please note that the school will be closed from Friday 25th to Tuesday 29th May.
